Cinco de Mayo Festivities

Today was a packed day with a morning field trip to the Cherry Creek Fresh Market, and then later that afternoon the girls and I walked to City Park where a Cinco de Mayo celebration was going on. We obviously there for just the food for the most part.

The fiesta was filled with people, boys having a boxing match, chihuahua races, Mexican folklore dancing, and vendors selling not only food and Mexican beer and margaritas, but random other things like bubble guns for the kids, fake Michael Kors purses, jewelry, and more. They was a lot typical fair food like turkey legs, grilled corn, and funnel cake. We ignored all of that and went for the Mexican food offerings.

We decided that wherever the longest lines were was where we were eating. Our choice was Taco y Salsa, a local Denver chain. If you stroll down South Federal, you are bound to find Taco y Salsa. They had two gentlemen grilling up asada and al pastor, steak and pork street tacos. We enjoyed one of each with some salsa verde, salsa, cilantro and onion mixture, and a little key lime. It was deliciously greasy.

On our final final stop, we stop at the first place we passed and was convinced to go back because we liked their samples. It was a restaurant that is located in Pueblo, Colorado called The Pueblo Chili Casa. We tried their Chili wrap which tasted deliciously cheesy. It was a cheese quesadilla of gooey goodness with a fire roasted chili in it.

Happy Cinco de Mayo and Drinko everyone! Be safe!
