Jungle Baby Shower: Decorations

My brother and his girlfriend, Samantha, are having a baby boy, and I decided to throw them a jungle baby shower. Since this is my first nephew and probably only nephew, I went all out. It was a lot of work, but it was all worth it in the end.

The mommy-to-be really loves camo print, but she also wanted the jungle theme for baby Zen. I found some Baby Lion King decorations at Party City and then made the rest of the decorations and themed the appetizer menu around the jungle theme.

  • The mantel was decorated with streamers to look like vines with palm leaves and a tissue paper pompoms**. I also hung matching theme colored onesie with string and clothes pins.

  • The center piece for the table was a diaper cake** to bottom section is wrapped in jungle theme burp clothes. The top part was covered with green and blue bibs, stuffed money, teething ring, and kid keys. Both sections are covered with baby travel shampoo and held by burlap ribbon and green zebra print ribbon, and top with palm leaves and green crinkle paper. (Unlike the site reference below, I did not use rubber bands. I tied the ribbon tightly in bows instead.)

  • For the signing table, I used The Lion King book as the guest book. I had made a Jungle Book painting with Mowgli and Baloo and a quote from a song they sing in the movie for the baby room and put it on an easel. For the"Advice for the Parents to be", I wrapped yarn around a picture frame, cut out paper onesies, and then clipped them on with clothes pins. I had also printed out diaper raffle tickets that were Lion King themed**, for all the guests to fill out to win a door prize.

  •  Games We Played: Match the Animal with the Baby, Guess How Many Candies are in the Bottle, How Big is the Mommy's Belly with ribbon, Guess the Poop in the Diaper which was 4-5 diapers filled with 4-5 melted chocolate candy bars, and Pregnant Mommy Trivia and the bonus was guess the baby name and then it was revealed.
  • Door prizes for the games were themed as well: "She about to pop!" with gum, candies with gum, and popcorn, "You nailed it." with nail polish, files, finger/toe separators, and or nail clippers, "From our shower to your's." which had travel size shampoos, conditioners, soap, deodorant, and or loofas.

  1. Oh god! More the minds, more are the ideas and now days they are one on the top of another. Loving the ribbons and décor done with matching strings. Cake is also exotic. Can these similar customized arrangements be done at New York venues for my friend's gender reveal treat too? Will just note down all these preparations to make the lists of things required.
